Upcoming taster camps
Every taster camp runs over two days – Saturday and Sunday, usually from 10 am to 12 noon. Two training sessions, then your child is back with you. You pay nothing online: after booking you receive a personal confirmation by email with the payment details.
Siblings or a whole group? Drop us a line, we will find a solution.
The daily schedule
Saturday and Sunday run the same way. Two hours of training per day, then your child is back with you. The camp is deliberately short so the concentration holds until the end.
These times are a typical example and can differ from camp to camp – some camps only start at noon. The exact times for your date are in the confirmation you receive after booking.

How we work with kids
Every child counts
Every child brings their own strengths. The training adapts, not the other way round.
Small groups
Maximum eight kids per coach. Everyone touches the ball often and is seen.
Clear structure
A fixed build-up, focus on technique and movement – games instead of drills.
Two languages
We coach in German and English. Kids new to Berlin follow along right away.
Your coach

Mack McKelton
From 2006 to 2014 an international skateboard professional, among others for Red Bull, then a presenter on radio, TV and at large events such as Munich MASH. Alongside that he earned his coaching licence and worked as a regional performance coach for the olympically ambitious skateboard youth squad in north-east Germany.
Since 2018 Mack has been a fixture in Berlin beach volleyball: he runs the open play at Beach 61, organises fun tournaments and coaches in the sand. With his experience as an athlete, a Master of Education in Sport and English and two children of his own, he coaches playfully, constructively and with a clear goal.
Impressions from the kids camps

Questions parents ask us
My child has never played volleyball. Is that a problem?
No. Most kids stand in the sand for the first time, others have played before. We build the training so that every child gets the most out of it – groups are formed by age and ability so nobody is over- or under-challenged.
Who looks after the kids, and how many per coach?
A maximum of eight kids per coach. The head coach is Mack McKelton, who holds a coaching licence and a teaching degree. For larger groups further coaches join so the rule of eight holds.
Are the times always the same?
Usually it runs from 9:50 to 12:10. Depending on the date, court availability and season it can differ – some camps only start at noon. As soon as your booking is confirmed you receive the exact times by email.
Do I have to stay as a parent?
No. You drop your child off at 9:50 and pick them up at 12:10. You are welcome to watch at any time, the venue has a large beach bar. We do need a mobile number for emergencies.
What happens if it rains or gets very hot?
In light rain we keep playing, sand handles that. In a thunderstorm or extreme heat we adjust the times or move the session – you will hear from us in good time. We cannot offer refunds because we pay for the booked courts as well. In practice a cancellation has never happened.
My child is shy and does not know anyone.
That is the normal case, almost everyone comes alone. We start with getting-to-know games, and in a group of eight you quickly find someone. If your child would rather come with a friend, let us know – then we put them in the same group. And if it helps: stay and watch from the side. That takes the tension off many children.
How do I book more than one child?
In the booking step simply increase the number of places. Put the names and ages in the comment field so we can group sensibly.
Until when can I cancel?
You can cancel free of charge up to one week before the camp. After that the courts are booked and paid for on our side – we can then only refund if someone from the waiting list takes your place. If your child falls ill at short notice, still get in touch: often there is a place at the next date.
